REMOVING A BUTTER STAIN

If you need to remove butter from an upholstery suite or an armchair

Expert Carpet Cleaning are delighted to pass on the following useful tips. However, we would always recommended that you first call a professional attempting any new process that you haven’t done before. However, if it is your wish to carry out this cleaning process yourself, please note that you do so at your risk.

Some fabrics (such as viscose) are not wet cleanable. Therefore, it is always recommended that you test any cleaning solution in an inconspicuous area to minimise potential damage.

Expert Carpet Cleaning does not recommend the use of Vanish or any other Oxidising Agents as they can potentially cause colour loss in your carpet, fabric or upholstery.

STEP 1

DO… remove any excess butter from the fabric with a Kitchen Towel before starting

STEP 2

DO… sprinkle Talc onto the affected area and gently agitate into the stain area

STEP 3

DO… allow to dry for at least a few hours.

STEP 4

DO… remove Talc with a vacuum cleaner.

STEP 5

DO… mix one Teaspoon of Washing-up liquid into 2 litres of warm water.

STEP 6

DO… use a Tea Towel that has been submerged in the solution and then wrung out, so it is only damp. Gently blot the area (Blot, don’t rub!)
