WINE STAIN TIP

Everybody seems to have an opinion on how to remove a red wine stain from a Carpet, Rug or an Upholstered Seat . Here are a few of our Do’s and Don’ts…

Expert Carpet Cleaning based in Dublin are delighted to pass on the following useful tips. However, We would always recommended that you first call a professional attempting any new process that you haven’t done before. However, if it is your wish to carry out this cleaning process yourself, please note that you do so at your risk.

Some fabrics (such as viscose) are not wet cleanable. Therefore, it is always recommended that you test any cleaning solution in an inconspicuous area to minimise potential damage.

Expert Carpet Cleaning does not recommend the use of Vanish or any other Oxidising Agents as they can potentially cause colour loss in your carpet, fabric or upholstery.

STEP 1

DO… using Kitchen Towel, blot as much of the wine out of the fabric as you can

STEP 2

DO… pour a glass full of Sparkling Water into pouring jug. Add about one Teaspoon of Salt to the water to act as a softener. This creates a carbonated water softener

STEP 3

DO… pour half of your carbonated mixture on the stained area and allow to dwell for about 30 seconds, then blot to remove your mixture and the stain

STEP 4

DO… repeat the above step with the remainder of the mixture

STEP 5

DON’T… waste perfectly good white wine by pouring it onto a stain

STEP 6

DON’T… allow the stain area to dry unless you are happy that all wine is removed. Instead, wet a tea towel and wring it out. Then place a tea towel over the stain area to keep the area moist
